Starting college classes means starting a new phase in your life! It’s
important to make sure that your life makes shifts with this new venture.
Students need to
schedule their lives so that they are making time to focus on their studies. If
you don’t prioritize it, it won’t happen.
Self confidence is important.
Most college students are working towards a degree. Years of work will go into
this goal. Your attitude is a huge determining factor in your success. Believing
you’re capable and worthy of college education will help make good choices
toward your goals.
Self awareness and being
able to take personal responsibility for your life is the #1 thing in my
opinion. Being able to take stock of what your weaknesses and strengths are and
work on bettering yourself will keep you on course towards your goal.
If you start to get off
track when you start your first semester its important to realize all of the support
you DO have if you need it. Many colleges offer a variety of free counseling
and tutoring. You should reach out to your parents or someone you trust that
can help keep you on track. Make sure you don’t take on too much and set
yourself up for failure.
My first year of college
I made some mistakes. I forgot what my goals were and I lost motivation. I had
no discipline. I didn’t make time to study outside of class and I showed up to
some classes sleepy and late.
I came back to school
with a goal in mind and the motivation and desire to get what I want out of my education.
Its easy to stay on track when I see my future turning out the way I want.
